John Gleason chairs the firm’s Healthcare and Employment Practice Areas. His practice includes the representation of physicians and other health care providers in the organization and operation of their practices, the development of employment and recruitment agreements, and the antitrust and regulatory issues arising from the affiliations between medical practices. His practice also includes counseling businesses on employment matters ranging from compliance with federal and state laws on employment discrimination to regulatory issues arising from benefits administration. He appears before Maine agencies on employment matters involving Maine businesses and licensing matters involving Maine physicians.  He also serves as local counsel on employment actions in federal and state court.

Prior to joining the firm, John served as a clerk with United States District Court Judge Edward T. Gignoux.

Representative Matters

• Develops employment and recruitment agreements for new physicians
• Organizes new medical practices and affiliations between practices
• Advises on regulations affecting medical practices and physician ventures, including fraud and abuse, certificates of need, licensing and disciplinary matters, and antitrust restrictions
• Counsels businesses on employment practices and procedures
• Provides representation before Maine agencies on discrimination, unemployment and other employment matters
• Serves as local counsel in federal and state court on employment matters.
