Mike Peisner brings to the firm significant experience in money-center financing, general corporate and business planning law.
Mike has represented clients in several hundred million dollars of financing, including SEC stock registrations and such tax-driven transactions as sale-leasebacks, sale of limited partnership and limited liability company (LLC) interests and sale of industrial development bonds. He has engineered sophisticated corporate reorganizations (including non-profits), handled numerous asset and equity acquisitions, and advised clients of various sizes on business planning matters, including tax and securities issues. He chaired the Maine State Bar Association task force on LLCs, which was instrumental in the passage of enabling legislation in 1994, and in the passage of subsequent amendments, including inter-species merger and conversion legislation in 1999.
Before attending law school, Mike worked as a management auditor for the U.S. General Accounting Office.

Representative Matters
- Represented an alternative energy company in its purchase of a minority interest in an entrepreneurial wind energy developer, and in the subsequent purchase of that developer’s first viable project.
- Conducted a securities registration for merger that formed a holding company for a public utility.
- Represented a start-up high-tech company in corporate matters, raising funds (including venture capital investments) and licensing.
- Represented a Canadian timber company in obtaining a cross-border loan with complex structure giving advantages under Canadian tax law.
- Represented a lender as local counsel on cross-border loan to Canadian owner of biomass energy company.
Community Service
Mike served as President of the Jewish Federation of Southern Maine from 1998 to 2000, and presided over its merger with the Jewish Community Center.
