Curtis Thaxter’s Healthcare practice offers a broad-based and unique range of services to providers and collaborative ventures in the field. Our attorneys have significant experience dealing with issues from the standpoint of physicians and provider-sponsored networks, managed care organizations, and the development of joint ventures consolidating these various interests. Our attorneys have served as faculty on various educational panels in the area of fraud and abuse, antitrust, certificate of need, employment, network formation and managed care.
We have extensive experience in the formation and operation of new medical practices, healthcare joint ventures and networks, development of new medical and surgical facilities, as well as handling the transactional, corporate, financing, securities, regulatory and antitrust issues relating to these arrangements. We also work extensively with individual healthcare providers, handling their legal needs both in the medical field and personally. Our attorneys represent physicians and other providers on disciplinary matters before state licensing boards. Our healthcare practice includes the representation of numerous group and individual medical practices, joint ventures of physicians and hospitals, one of Maine’s largest multi-hospital PHO’s, nursing homes, provider networks, and other healthcare providers. We have substantial experience dealing with Medicare and Medicaid (MaineCare) reimbursement issues, as well as payment issues and contracting under private managed care and traditional fee-for-service health plans.
