CTResolutionTM John Paul (Jack) Erler, a member of Curtis Thaxter and principal of CTResolution™ provides alternative dispute resolution (ADR) services to individuals, businesses, governmental agencies and non-profit organizations. He is a trained and experienced mediator and facilitator committed to helping people find satisfying resolutions to disputes in the least litigious manner.
Jack facilitates communication between the parties by demonstrating respect, actively listening, confirming understanding, focusing in a neutral manner on the information exchanged and being patient as well as optimistic. He assists the parties by directing their attention to the future rather than the past, exploring creative as well as traditional settlement strategies, examining any common or continuing relationship goals and assessing the risks and benefits associated with the alternatives of settlement or litigation.
Jack is a qualified Court Alternative Dispute Resolution Service (CADRES) mediator in general civil, environmental and land use cases. He is a rostered neutral in the Maine Superior Court’s civil litigation alternative dispute resolution (ADR) program. He has successfully mediated hundreds of complex commercial, real estate and environmental cases on the principle that the parties, not the neutral, have the responsibility to resolve the dispute.
